New year of fab flicks

Maldon Golden Movies has launched its program for Season One of 2025, featuring the first five films that will be screened this year. As always, it features a mix of films from Australia and the world; with classics, hidden gems and a recent release for good measure. MGM members were given the opportunity to vote on a long list before the final program was locked in. Highlights include the late, beloved Dame Maggie Smith with her Oscar-winning role in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (1969, UK, directed by Ronald Neame) and Michael Caine’s likely final role in The Great Escaper (2023, UK, directed by Oliver Parker). These are contrasted with the glorious Audrey Hepburn/Gregory Peck pairing of Roman Holiday (1953, USA, directed by William Wyler) and the quietly menacing, Melbourne gangland energy of Animal Kingdom (2010, Australia, directed by David Michôd. All wonderful films and they’ll be shown on the big screen in fantastic, friendly company.
