Newstead social enterprise owners Caroline and Dean McLaren had a lucky escape from a toppling tree on Saturday 24 August. They had paused at a Give Way sign in McKenzie Hill when a eucalyptus plummeted in front of them, leaving barely metres to spare. Caroline said they have received a lot of attention since posting about it on social media. “We’ve had so many people come to us and say, ‘I’m so happy you’re alive!’”

The couple, who run a food van called Konjo Mama that specialises in Ethiop
